The Arc Planter
Sissy Moon x Project Backboard
The Arc Planter is the first piece in a series of 6 colorful mini-collections by Sissy Moon, set to be released over the next year. Inspired by the work of Project Backboard, a non-profit organization that teams up with artists to renovate and redesign public basketball courts, part of the proceeds from this series will help fund our eventual collaborative restoration of a court in Portland, Oregon.
One of my favorite things about basketball, is that I can play it outdoors, for free, at anytime. Whether it’s one kid practicing the same move he saw on tv over and over, or a crazy game of 6 on 6 between neighbors, there’s always someone on the court near my house at all hours of the day. This series of work is a celebration of the vibrancy of our basketball loving community. In that spirit of community, the design for this first planter was inspired by a local painted basketball court at Mt Tabor Middle School, designed by student Miles Wood.
This planter is 5.25” wide and 4.5” tall. It includes a hole for drainage and a base. As the clay absorbs some of the moisture from your plant and soil, the colors might flux over time.
